Embark on an interactive journey of Australia’s famous Great Barrier Reef with much-loved presenter Sir David Attenborough. Brought to you by James Cook University, the stunning Orpheus Island has four live camera streams.
Enjoy watching the serenity of the beach scenes as the water gently ripples on the shore, or dive beneath the surface for underwater views to spot marine life including rockcod, coral trout, blacktip reef sharks, yellowtail fusiliers, hard and soft coral … and if you’re lucky maybe even a turtle!
Two cameras are located in Pioneer Bay; one overlooking the bay and the other located underwater about 100m offshore. There are also two cameras at Rocky Beach for the far Eastern side of Orpheus Island; one underwater and the other above water overlooking the ocean. Start your viewing experience here!
De-stress with Ken Davis’ sounds of the Pan Flute inspired by the Great Barrier. This nine minute You Tube clip is perfect for a quick mental break. Why not grab a coffee and put the tunes on while you watch one of the live-cam videos from Orpheus Island, mentioned above.
Located in Townsville, the Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is offering some great live Facebook streams, including shark feeding and lots of other educational marine life videos. They’ve also created a Reef HQ Bingo game that you can play at home – what a great activity to play with the kids! Click here
