Grab your cameras and take in the views from some of Townsville’s best vantage points and lookouts.

Castle Hill

The famous pink granite monolith that stands proudly in the centre of Townsville, Castle Hill, is the perfect spot to enjoy 360 degree views of the region. Just metres short of a mountain, Castle Hill offers amazing views over the city and across to Magnetic Island, with sunrise and sunset delivering something extra special.

You can get up to the top of the hill by car (parking is available) or by foot with a few different Castle Hill tracks of varying intensity to choose from.

Mt Stuart Lookout

Not only does Mount Stuart boast the perfect environment for outdoor recreation such as rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking and more, it also offers some pretty special views.

Taking in the night sky at sunset, as the sun goes down and the city lights flicker on in the distance, is a particularly good time of day to check out the views.

Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park

Take a short drive to Cape Pallarenda and enjoy the great outdoors with a hike on one of the walking trails. Several of the trails will reward you with their picturesque views, including Forts Walk, which offers sweeping views of Townsville and Magnetic Island. This walk is the shortest of the trails at just 500m (one way). Discover more about the Cape Pallarenda trails.

Pipers Lookout

Situated in the Hervey Range, Pipers Lookout enjoys lovely views over the bushland greenery below and out to the sea.
