The focal point of Townsville is the Strand on the beachfront. Walking, jogging, biking is made easy along the pathways. Enjoy the fresh water swimming pools, children’s water park, playgrounds, basketball court, amphitheatre and permanent artwork. Views from Castle Hill are also a must see.
The Great Barrier Reef is world heritage listed and Townsville is the best place to access it. Day trips with options of snorkeling, diving & using the glass bottom boat, as well as specialist scuba dives and environmental expeditions, are all available from Townsville. The world famous Yongala shipwreck is well worth a visit. The Reef’s inshore waters also produce a multitude of different sport fish.
